All of our work at The Quinan Street Project is fueled by our desire to give young people the tools to become the next generation of great storytellers. Perhaps our lessons dealing with emotions and feelings inspire a young person to pursue psychology. Or maybe one of our courses in playwriting and storytelling produce the next great writer or director. Whatever our students ultimately pursue we hope that everyone who works with us feels supported to tell whatever stories they want to tell and speak up about issues that are important to them.
Our staff of teaching artists are some of the most experienced, multi-talented, and ethical artists in the Bay Area. Everyone employed by The Quinan Street Project is paid a fair and competitive wage and provided multiple opportunities to expand their teaching artistry every year.
The Quinan Street Project was started by and for community members of Contra Costa County - specifically West County. Despite the challenges of starting an organization from scratch as a women-owned nonprofit organization, QSP has continued to grow and flourish over the last decade, reaching thousands of children annually.
